I'll keep this one short as I'm on vacation as many of you are for Thanksgiving, but I'd be a fool not to share this story.
In 2019 I was on PIP (performance improvement plan) during the holidays. Candidly it sucked and every time I got a little happy I would remember I'm probably going to be fired for the first time in my career and would stop smiling.
Looking back it was a huge mistake to let a professional situation impact my personal family time.
My short stint and getting fired turned out to be an incredible turn of events 2 years later.
I made more money on my own than I ever could at my job, met some amazing folks, and doubled down on posting that got me awards from Salesforce, Gartner, Crunchbase, Business Insider, and a bunch more.
I'm not gonna lie and say getting fired felt great.
It didn't.
But I don't regret going for that job and meeting the folks I got to work with.
It's in the moments of what seems like a "low" where you get to really find out who you are.
Be resilient.
Keep smiling.
Enjoy your family.
Practice gratitude.
Have a mindset of abundance.
You never truly know what's good or bad.
